Source: Waveland Independent newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana, September 2, 1932

Miss Lila JONES, aged 33, a teacher in the Richmond schools, was murdered on Monday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. WA Jones, two and a half miles SE of Ladoga by a farm hand named Morris Green. Her parents were absent, visiting another daughter in Birdseye and she was alone at the farm. Green came early in the morning and did the milking. The girl was washing on the porch and they engaged in a scuffle in which she fell from the porch and was hurt. Green says he then beat her over the head with a hatchet to put her out of her pain. His first story, when he went after a doctor was that came from the barn he found her wounded. He is 22 and has heretofore borne a good reputation. - typed by kbz - how sad
